Contrary to popular belief, cats do love and cling to their owners, and they show it. We have collected the signs that your fluffy little pet can use to let you know that you are the best owner it can imagine. If you experience these, the burning question, the “how to be a good cat owner” not so burning anymore.

How to be a good cat owner? If you experience thes signs you already know the answer to the question.

1. Slow blinking

Frequent eye contact and slow blinking are clear signs that your cat thinks you are the owner’s superior. Feel free to return the slow blink with a slow blink. This is how you can tell to your cat that you love it too.

2. He misses you when you’re not home

Even the most independent breeds and personalities miss their owners when they’re away for a long time. If you went on vacation and after coming home your cat seems to ignore you and hides from you, it means that it missed you and needs a little more time to get used to your presence again.

If it rubs against you and greets you with a loud meow after a long day at work, it also means that it missed you during the day. Research proves that cats even prioritize time spent with their owners over delicious snacks and their favorite toys.

3. If you don’t have trouble to provide clean conditions

We cannot emphasize enough that one of the most important accessories for a happy kitty is always a clean and easily accessible litter. In this way, infections and negative behavior patterns can also be avoided. Cats are extremely demanding and, if I may say so, delicate animals, so if you shovel the litter every day, they will be incredibly grateful to you. We’re sure if they could talk, they’d tell you that.

4. If it is always after you

Can’t you take a step in the house without it following you? One moment it is napping on the couch, the next it is sitting next to the tub watching over you while you bathe? Feel honored, because they even put aside one of their favorite activities, sleep – for you.

5. Kneading on you

Kittens knead their mother’s tummy to stimulate the flow of milk while nursing. And adults knead to make their environment comfortable and homey, as well as to strengthen bonding. By kneading, they also mark you, which means they let everyone know that you belong to them. A love letter would be a bigger mistake on their part than that.

6. It shows you its tummy

If your cat feels comfortable enough with you, to the extent that it exposes its most vulnerable body part, i.e. its belly, then you can be sure that your relationship is truly intimate and loving. However, no matter how tempting it is, we do not recommend stroking its belly. It’s more like just part of a gesture, it’s better if you stay at the base of the ears or under the chin while petting.

7. The tip of its tail is moving, forming a little hook or wrapping around your legs

The cat’s tail tells a lot about its mood. A bushy tail, raised fur, and arched back indicate that it feels threatened, while a curled up tail with a wagging tip indicates that your pet is calm, happy, and confident in your presence. If your cat regularly wraps its tail around your legs and rubs its little head against you, your chest may swell with pride, because you are the kind of super owner that we wish every cat could have.
